Wellness Day – Neck and Shoulder Relief

by JQ Williams and Emily Rose Duea

Wellness Day – Neck and Shoulder Relief

Sat, June 9, 2018, 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM CDT

$20 – $60

DESCRIPTION

Join JQ Williams and Emily Rose for a day of relaxation and rejuvenation!

All classes will focus on neck and shoulder tension relief through a variety of modalities and will be 45 minutes long.

Between classes, take 15 minutes to mingle, have a snack, shop, get a free massage, and make some friends! We will have a lounge area set up if you'd like to take some time to journal or to skip a class and have some R&R.

Schedule:

– 10am: Hatha Yoga with JQ
– 11am: Partner Stretching and Thai Massage with JQ and Emily Rose
– 12pm: Restorative Yoga with Emily Rose
– 1pm : Meditation on the subtle body + a 15 minute guided savasana with adjustments from JQ and Emily Rose

Class Descriptions:

Hatha Yoga with JQ

Sometimes, to relax our muscles, we have to use them and get the blood flowing! This class will focus on gentle activation of the muscles around the shoulder girdle and the neck and head to bring awareness and improve posture. We will move through some simple exercises that work effectively using the least amount of effort. Expect to break a light sweat and to walk away with improved body awareness.

Partner Stretching and Thai Massage

Ever needed a hand scratching your back? We all have! Working with a partner is a great way to deepen your yoga practice plus, getting a little massage is always a nice touch! This workshop will not include acro yoga, so you will never be entirely off the ground. Expect to lean on one another, to communicate about the level of depth or pressure you want and to have a few laughs!

JQ and Emily Rose

Restorative Yoga

How deeply can you let go? Can you soften every muscle in your body, including your tongue? This class is focused on complete surrender. You will be supported by props in each pose so you can relax and let gravity do all the work. Expect to move slow and don't feel bad if you fall asleep! It happens to everyone at some point ;)

Emily Rose

Meditation on the Subtle Body

Meditation can seem intimidating, maybe you've thought, "oh, I have too many thoughts for meditation" or "I'm not 'zen' enough". The truth is, very few people have clear heads when meditating, the idea is that in meditation we are allowing all the thoughts to drain out. Imagine a dam on the top of a mountain, sometimes sitting in meditation is like opening up the floodgates on that dam. In the silence it feels like the thoughts grow louder and more irritating like rough rapids flying through your mind and body. Over time, and with practice, the dam returns to a normal stream, some days the water will be higher and the thoughts more frequent, other days it will be less and you may find a moment of bliss as the thoughts float away from you. The style of meditating we will do in this class isn't just sitting still and praying we don't have thoughts. We will start with some light breath work and gentle oscillating movements to soothe the nervous system. Then, we will practice focusing on the sensations at different points in our bodies. To finish we will lay on our backs, listen to the sound of waves and float away on a guided meditation. the last few minutes of class Emily Rose and JQ will bring you back into your bodies by giving you light adjustments and guiding you into vocalizations.

Featuring goodies from our Pioneer Pass partner

We hope to see you at this event, and many more!

16 wins is all it takes to get the parade route ready!  St. Paul turns RED GOLD & GREEN for what's sure to be a long playoff run, with the potential for tons of home ice hockey!

Source: NHL.com

During the Stanley Cup Playoffs, when you want to watch your Minnesota Wild, consider this your go-to guide for the best that downtown Saint Paul has to offer!

Tom Reid’s Hockey City Pub – 2 for 1's every Wild game. Use your Pioneer Pass to get 15% off your entire tab.

The Bulldog Lowertown – Use your Pioneer Pass to get 10% off your total bill.
Eagle Street Grill – 2 for 1's AB taps (must watch game in facility)
Citizen Supper Club – Use your Pioneer Pass to get 10% off your total bill.
Rival House – Use your Pioneer Pass to get 10% off your food.
Public Kitchen + Bar – Use your Pioneer Pass to get 10% off your total bill.
Fitzgerald's – SHUTTLE SERVICE leaves at 6:15pm

Don't get caught offsides (or outside), because you missed one of the shuttles to the game.

Alary’s Bar has four… yes four… shuttles that go to the Xcel Energy Center for Wild games. Customers receive free indoor parking for all home games. Pay $3 for a bus ticket, then redeem the ticket after the game at Alary's bar for beer or rail drinks.  Alary’s is also a great place to watch the game on TV, with its many televisions and sports bar atmosphere. (It's about a 5-8 minute walk from Pioneer Endicott)
Bennett’s Chop & Railhouse offers game day sirloin specials, Happy Hour from 3 to 6 p.m., and roundtrip shuttle service to all Xcel Energy Center events.
Shamrock's makes two runs to the Xcel Energy Center, with the first one leaving 40 minutes before the game, and the second 15 minutes before the game. Go in early for a quick game of bowling! The shuttle will pick you up at the bowling ally rail.

Game On, Eh!

Tons of reasons to visit St. Paul throughout the year!  More from TwinCities.com

5 OPENINGS TO LOOK FORWARD TO IN 2017

Bottle Rocket: Blue Plate likely will do what the company, which also owns Highland Grill, Longfellow Grill, Groveland Tap and a host of other Twin Cities restaurants, does best in the former Scusi location on St. Clair Avenue. Expect family-friendly, healthful fare in a bright, cheery atmosphere when Bottle Rocket opens sometime at the beginning of the year. 1806 St. Clair Ave., St. Paul; 651-690-2102

New David Fhima restaurant: Chef David Fhima is revamping his Faces space on Mears Park, and will be serving neighborhood bistro-type fare. He promises wood-roasted specialties and a French-American menu that will keep neighbors coming back. The restaurant, which will be called Bistro 373, will open next spring. 373 N. Sibley St., St. Paul

Barrel Theory Beer Company: Set to open near the beginning of 2017, this brewery by some Surly alums will serve barrel-aged, kettle-soured and other creative beers. The location, next to Dark Horse Bar and Eatery on East Seventh Street, is about as hot as St. Paul gets. 248 E. Seventh St., St. Paul; barreltheory.com

Stone Saloon: Construction has begun on the expansion of this historic building on Smith Avenue, which is being painstakingly restored. There will be a taproom serving traditional German lagers and restaurant in the original structure, built in 1857. An addition on the rear of the property will house a brew barn and kitchen, according to the saloon’s website. 445 N. Smith Ave., St. Paul; stonesaloon.com

Yoerg Brewing Company: Another brewery with a historic bent, Yoerg will be serving beer based on a recipe of a steam lager originally brewed in St. Paul in 1848 by Anthony Yoerg. The brewery will bring a taproom to the West Side of St. Paul, next door to the Wabasha Street Brewing Company. The taproom will serve specialty beers brewed on site and will also have a food menu. Look for Yoerg to open its doors sometime next summer. 427 S. Wabasha St., St. Paul; yoergbeer.com

Stay classy, Lowertown and make it a special evening and a very Happy New Year!!!

4th Street Market District "Summary Report" shown below.  A great read, if you haven't already enjoyed it.  Here are a few exciting updates since we last featured this exciting new neighborhood development!

Mark your calendars!  Here's a quote from a recent article by James Walsh, Startribune.com:

"A feasibility study, funded by $40,000 from St. Paul and the Riverfront Development Corporation, will be completed by mid-November.  Once the study is complete, elements of the project could find their way into city capital improvement plans, said Rich Pakonen, developer of the Pioneer Endicott Building at 4th and Robert streets.  Now is the time to gather more allies, he said."
